The St. Petersburg Area Association of Bed and Breakfast Inns (SPAABBI) has kicked off a campaign to demonstrate to travelers the benefits of staying at a bed and breakfast Inn over a hotel.  “Hotels tend to tack on hidden charges for parking, resort fees, internet use and all manner of other things plus you have to pay for breakfast. B&B’s are all inclusive and can actually save you money.” Stated Roland Martino, President, SPAABBI.  Quality and customer service are the hallmarks of independent B&B’s while hotels strive for consistency.  Martino points out that “Innkeeper’s are inherently the local specialists.  They live in the community and can direct you to what you are looking for unlike many hotels.” SPAABI properties provide full breakfast daily, free parking, free internet connectivity and many other complimentary amenities you won’t find elsewhere.  Support your independent business community, before considering a lower accommodation option check the value against those of a B&B.

This fact means that travelers get a chance to see a bit of the local neighborhoods and the local people. In some ways, this could mean that the travelers get a more realistic view of a place at a bed and breakfast inn. The operators of most the inns are local people so they know much about the area that they can share with their guests.

When you stay at a bed and breakfast inn, you will find yourself receiving much more personal service than you would get from a hotel. The owners will greet you in person, and will make sure that you are comfortable and happy during your stay. They will likely be willing to offer you advice and tips about the local area? things that probably do not appear in your typical guidebook. Staying at a bed and breakfast inn will give you insights into the area that you may otherwise have missed, and you will meet more people, and have lots of memories to take home with you after your trip.

A Bed and Breakfast may include a gourmet breakfast that you could not get at a larger chain hotel. Snacks and soft drinks i.e. lemonade and tea are also included in the price as well as free parking.  It is a home away from home with all the luxuries.
